Firstly, I'm not a professional ok? This is merely my opinion. I'm no Tim Gunn! Or whoever passes for a fashion expert these days.

The rendering of coats in neon colours by Burberry and Jil Sander provides standout pieces for Fall/Winter.

I like this jacket from Costume Nacional. And the knit jumpers are sooo nice. Or are they cashmere?

I like the cropped sleeves and length of the jumpers. It allows for execution of colour blocking.

I don't like the cut of some of the shirts though. I don't find 'em flattering.

Somehow they were able to pull off the cropped length, something that looked awful when Prada did it in Fall 2010. Granted, Prada's was way shorter. Also perhaps because of the fit? Prada's was shrunken all over even along the torso giving one the impression that it shrunk while in the wash. That's just me though.

Dolce & Gabbana stuck to their formula. One of my blazers I got from H&M looks like one of the brocade jackets. I have no doubt that the one from Dolce is nicer LOL.

I like that a lot of their trousers have a slight drop. I'm still not over dropcrotch

They also did the cropped length and sleeve effect but they executed theirs using trompe d'oleil.

What better way to revive a blog by doing a reveal! A few months back I showed a teaser post of something I bought in Barneys.

Well let's show it now!

Yipee, it's a Proenza Schouler! If you're someone I know you've probably seen me using it a couple of times.

Let's let the cat outta the bag, shall we?

It's the gorgeous PS1 in midnight blue lambskin. Great bag. I got it in medium size.

It's like a schoolboy bag, with a shoulder strap, two straps running from the top of the bag and hangin down the bottom, with a cute antique brass clasp that keeps the bag closed. The perforations on the straps are just decorative, they don't attach to anything. It also has two outer pockets, one with a zipper.

I love the small details. Inside the bag there's a small pocket with more antique brass hardware, stamped with the Proenza Schouler logo. It's lined with canvas with a crisscross pattern.

On a guy, the bag hangs just around the hip level. Kinda short really. I wish it came with a longer strap. I heard though that the large and extra large versions come with an extra longer strap.

I spent an afternoon in LA walking around and I took her out for a spin. Isn't she gorgeous in natural light?! And why does my drink look like piss?

The Proenza Schouler PS1 is a gorgeous bag. It comes in medium, large and extra large sizes, and in a pochette version, all in different colours. I got the one in lambskin but it's also available in suede, canvas and in exotic leather varieties. I super love my PS1.

Hi all. I'm back to blogging. Sorry for the delays. I've been sooo busy. I'm back to work but I'll try to sneak in the occasional post.

The denim top trend has certainly trickled down to high street stores already. Here's a really nice D&G one from the SS 2010 collection. I didn't see it at the store though but...

I did see this H&M one. I kinda regret walkin away from the purchase. It was sooo nice and it fit perfectly. Here's a shot I took in the dressing room. It's my take on the denim on denim trend. Shown with bleached jeans by Stacy Rodriguez and Frye X Marc by Marc Jacobs distressed boots.

Thank god for inflight wifi. DC to LA is a 7 hour long trip. At least this'll keep me occupied, at least til the batteries on my laptop run out. I've been so looking forward to this trip. It's snowing again in DC and I'm glad to be on my way to LA coz it's a little warmer there.

When I packed for this long vacation, I brought four shoes with me. I regret bringing two of those shoes coz I haven't worn 'em since I came here. Why did I bring them in the first place huh? Those two shoes have been bumped off my fave list because of the two shoes that I've bought (so far). I got 'em both in New York and I'm so so happy coz they're both so fun to wear.

How was everyone's Christmas? We had a white Christmas here in DC. It was crazy cold, brrr.

I've been here a coupla days already and I've been goin around, checking some stuff. My idea of a vacation in another place is to do some shopping, and to try the local restaurants. I'm not really into the sightseeing and all that. But I did the tourist thing anyways with my Mum coz she hasn't done it in the months that she's lived here.

We took the double decker bus tour which takes you around most of the tourist-y places.

I didn't take a lot of photos though. Just these few. As I said, I don't like doing the tourist thing, the sightseeing and such.

I've been enjoying myself here in DC. I apologise for the delay in posting about my trip. I arrived here last Thursday. Just my luck that when I arrive, DC gets the most snow it has had in ten years. 28 inch snowfall y'all. So mega balot balot lang ako. I'm not a big fan of winter and layered clothing.

Anways, on my trip to DC, I had a 5 hour layover at the Incheon airport in Korea. It's a nice airport with a very organised system of flight transfers. The duty free shopping there is quite good actually. They had Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Burberry, Longchamp, and a lot of other brands, and the merchandise was quite up to date. I only had these few photos coz they wouldnt' let me take photos.

Finally, a real vacation. I graduated from med school almost two years ago, and I haven't taken a real vacation to celebrate. I've been busy these past few weeks tying up loose ends. It's tiring running a household fulltime and working at the same time, and I feel like I deserve this break. Chos!

My passport hasn't had any new stamps added to it in years so I think it's gonna be pretty pleased with this trip. Vacay here we go!

P.S. I'm sad that Brittany Murphy died. Clueless was such a great movie, and I loved her in that movie.

What's in a bag?

As some of you know, I'm a physician. And I thought I'd share what's inside my bag when I go to work. It's interesting what someone carries in his or her bag coz it tells a lot about the person.

I use my LV epi speedy size 35 most of the time coz it looks like the classic doctor's bag. I have the 35 coz it fits all of the instruments I need plus personal effects. Shown with it are my bag organiser, a toiletry pouch that I use to hold instruments, a bp monitor (for the life of me, i can't spell syphogmothingimajigie) and my stethoscope.

The Team Manila pouch holds sterile swabs, bandages, my prescription pad, and alcohol. My other first aid instruments aren't shown here.

I'm gonna practise dermatology and I won't be using these much in my chosen specialisation but every doctor still needs a stethoscope and a bp app.

My BP app really went through the PGH experience. It got really battered. I'm too much of a cheapskate to buy a new one so I just patched it up with micropore. Micropore is a lifesaver for any doctor during their internship, ask anyone.

I got this bag organiser from Bags in the City. I hate rummaging through my stuff looking for something, so a bag organiser is perfect for holding all your things together.

These are the contents of my bag organiser. I have my wallet; a coin purse in a colour I really like, that I got from Fino; a compact camera; a bag hook; another coin purse that holds a keepsake from my Dad so he stays close to me all the time, I never leave home without it; a Fino card wallet that holds my membership cards; a pen; and my OC8 mattifying gel.

Regular readers will notice that I buy products locally. You should check out Fino. I like the stuff they have, and they have great quality products. They're pricier than other leatherware brands though. But why should one compromise quality right?

OC8 Mattifying gel. I swear by this product. It keeps you oil free for hours. I always have this with me and reapply midday.

When I think of Ava's collection for summer 2010, I can't help but think of the Derelicte collection of Mugatu from the movie Zoolander. It's just so cute. Her collection was born in September, during the Big O, Ondoy that is. And it shows strongly in her collection.

Maica used to be a hardworking, inspired, productive yet struggling visual artist, who sought employment as a graphic artist in Singapore the past few years and had begun to exhibit her works in Southeast Asia. After her health rapidly deteriorated, Maica had to stop working and come home to the Philippines. Her family is trying their best to meet medical expenses, but their resources have been severely exhausted. We aim to encourage Maica not to give up.

I've been cuhraazy about boots lately. And when I saw this preview of the Spring 2010 collection of DMs I went flying through the roof! OMG. I want the grey, blue and red ones. What's interesting about these is that the leather was treated to make it look like canvas. Cool huh.

"... a special photoshoot with ria bolivar and it's a preview of my spring summer 2010 collection. the whole concept can be summed up into several words like sea swept, freedom and languid. i had this idea of clothes cut like it were submerged in water for a time and got stretched. I wanted ease, comfort and softness to the collection. There's a conscious effort on my part to clear the air of rigidity of my previous collection. I used micromodal, a type of jersey fabric used in underwear for most of the pieces along with cotton linen, stretch cotton and canvas."

Project Bayanihan

It really is a beautiful thing when brothers help one another. This typhoon may have damaged homes and livelihoods of countless people, but it really brought out the bayanihan spirit in all of us. I'm so proud of my Filipino brothers! But I guess I can't be too happy knowing that our other Filipino brothers are in need.

I feel very lucky to have been a part of the group I was in. I feel blessed to have been given an opportunity to help our brothers in their time of need. Not to mention that my group was the most fun ever! Puro kami mga becky! Hahaha. I was kinda the odd man out there coz almost everyone worked in fashion - designers, stylists etc. But it's all good. I have my niche as fashionista doctor.

Divine collaborated with Jenni Epperson to write about our relief ops to inspire people.

I sometimes step out of the fantasy world I built all in my mind. I'm a real person with real friends. There are days when I stay in bed all day fantasising about meeting a prince (or a really old rich guy who's gonna die soon) who's gonna take me to his country manor just outside the city where we'd dance all night and on a good day we'd go shopping and burn serious cash, and we'd eat the yummiest food without gettin fat and we'd never grow old and we'd stay beautiful.

But one has to earn one's keep and maintain relationships else they wither, so I step out of my comfort zone.

I'm dangerous when I get sad. I end up buying something. And as luck would have it, I happened to pass by the Michka boutique and saw a really cute Balenciaga money wallet. I inquired and they told me it'd be better if I came back the next day coz they were gonna hold a sale. I asked the SAs if they could ask the owner if they could give me the sale discount a day earlier coz I shop there anyways. Luckily they remember me and they gave me the 10% discount a day earlier! I'm sooo happy with my new wallet.

I'm still not sure what official colour it is. It may be from the 2008 Fall 2008 pre-season or main season collection, bubble gum pink or amethyst.

She's such a welcome addition to my Balenciaga family. I'm retiring my money clips now.

Last Saturday was Encircle the City at Cubao X. I dressed up circa early 2000s when I was just a rebellious teen, angry at the world. Although I didn't really stay all night to enjoy the party (I didn't even make it to the start of the event), goin out at night brings me back to those days when I didn't even care about parties or fashion. I went to the parties and wore the clothes only coz my dad didn't like 'em. Haha. Emo.

I've been obsessed about boots lately. I've been snappin 'up a new pair every few weeks. I love the sound I make when I walk through halls.

I got this pair from the same cobbler that made my suede boots. One thing I noticed about old-school cobblers is that they like putting high heels on shoes. This pair makes me 3 inches taller. 2 inches on the heels with a one inch insert. Look at 'em heels.

I really love the patent leather of the boots. It's so BDSM. I don't wear this pair everyday though coz for one thing, it's painful to walk around in. Another thing is it's flashy.

The boots came with this removable strap that goes around the heel. I love it. It looks so cowboy with it.

Gucci is pleased to announce the launch of GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY, a flash sneaker store that will travel the world starting in October 2009. For this unique retail initiative, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has collaborated with award-winning musical artist Mark Ronson on the design of a limited edition collection of Gucci Ronson sneakers.

A new limited edition Gucci Ronson sneaker will be introduced at each international destination of the tour, in addition to an exclusive edition of 18 sneaker styles in the GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY sneaker collection. The collection includes 16 men’s styles and 2 women’s styles, incorporating classic Gucci design signatures, such as the GG logo or a stylized version of the iconic Gucci red and green web detail. Each design includes silver or gold metal dog tags as well as an embroidered ‘Limited Edition’ label inscribed inside the shoe. Customers’ initials can be embossed onto a customized leather tag on the shoe laces, if desired.

The first GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY store will debut at Crosby Street in New York on October 23, when Frida Giannini and Mark Ronson will host a celebratory kick-off party. The store will then remain open for just two weeks.

In December, GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY will move from New York to Miami, coinciding with Art Basel Miami Beach. It will then move to select cities in Europe and Asia such as London, Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

I was at the Fluxxe 4th anniversary when Mark of Preview complimented me on my outfit, saying it was so "Rad by Rad Hourani". I've been a little out of the loop in the fashion world, international and local (I wasn't able to go to Metrowear), so I didn't get what he meant. I looked it up today and boy was I pleasantly surprised with the collection. I loved it!

The diffusion line stayed loyal to the main fashion line, only substituting the materials for the clothes for cheaper, more affordable ones. It is, after all, a diffusion line. O boy, I do wish we had these here. Prices will range from $100 to $400.

A Beauty and Style Exhibit

There are always two sides tos a story, and every person has their own tale to tell.

Makeup artist Jake Galvez and hairstylist Buern Rodriguez, along with a unique and talented crop of professionals from the photography and fashion industry, will reveal the two faces of some of today’s most celebrated individuals in the beauty and style exhibit Face 2 Face.

The muse starts off as blank canvass—an installation that allows beauty and fashion to transcend to art, created by stylist Lotho Lotho.

Photographer Paolo Pineda and stylist Shahani Gania capture the undeniable strength and courage of celebrity Katrina Halili in two portraits that can prove to be just as controversial as the actress herself.

Pinoy social scene luminary Tim Yap and New York-based supermodel Brent Chua display the two-sides to their celebrated individuality in portraits by Belgian photographer Frank Hoefsmit.

Internationally-acclaimed actress Alessandra de Rossi and TV show host Bianca Gonzales face each other off for the first time in two mesmerizing fashion spreads styled by RCXY Bautista; while the underground scene’s favourite muses—Jujiin Samonte and Xtina Superstar—hike the volume up several notches more, styled by Matt Gozun, all photographed by Doc Marlon Pecjo.

Celebrity siblings Sid Lucero and Max Eigenmann re-fashion their beautiful genes to create varied versions of themselves, photographed by Darrel Pobre, styled by Sidney Yap.

Young Designers’ Guild President Louis Claparols and local designer Puey Quineones, editors Cheryl Tiu and Bianca Santiago, all take a break from their day jobs to be styled by young avant-garde designer Geof Gonzales, photographed by Charles Buenconsejo.

Actress/model Angel Aquino explore and exploit two facets of their unrivalled beauty, while notorious heiress Tara Tambunting reinvents herself and lets her alter ego Cassidy Starr shine through, photographed by Toto Labrador.

Ava's fashion aesthetic is fun and vibrant. I enjoy wearing her clothes coz it matches my personality. It also came as no surpirse that her RTW collection for Fashion Week Holiday 2009 was well received. Shown above is one of the pants from her recent collection.

I've been wearing her clothes for a while now and I'm happy to add the pants above to my Ava collection. I wore it last Saturday and it attracted both wanted and unwanted attention from people. A friend of mine, Joseph, literally shooed away a kid who was staring at me for my pants (and graffiti speedy). That's what her clothes are about, standout appeal! Here's me wearing her jhodpurs.

You know those times when there's something you want. But you can't seem to find something like that thing you want. You go to so many shops and see similar things, but it's just not what you exactly want?

I like the way boots look on a person. I especially like the way I feel in boots. I feel... power. Confidence. It's the way the heels on a pair of boots changes your stride. I love the sound I make when I walk in boots. I already have several pairs of boots, from Doc Martens, to chelseas, to winklepickers but I still wanted that perfect pair. So I started a hunt for my next pair of boots.

I've been looking for a versatile pair of boots. Something I can wear to work or for a night out. Not too dressy but not too plain. I went to many shops looking for that exact pair. Some were plain fugly. Some were too small or too big, or plain-looking or too fancy. You get the drift.

So, faced with my dilemma, I decided to have it made bespoke by a cobbler in Cubao X. I'm pretty pleased with it. It's a simple design with slightly tall heels, and to give it a little luxury feel, I had it made in suede. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I've been wearing it almost everyday. O shoes (and bags), you will be the end of me.
